Title:    Consulting Engineer

Summary: This role is expected to solve, answer and record technical related issues about all MAN Turbomachinery core products (Steam- and Gas Turbines, Axial-, Radial-, Screw Compressors and its auxiliary components) and 3rd party equipment. Increase order intake by reverse engineering activities such as 3D-scanning along with reverse engineering for 3rd party installations. The incumbent will provide support of local workshop facilities with repair engineering guidance, providing expertise, and act as a bridging function to headquarters overseas. They will also provide technical support for MAN field service personnel and troubleshooting for turbomachinery issues related to installation, overhauling, and operation for MAN fleet and others. Participation in remote monitoring program for turbomachinery in the region and global customer helpline is imperative to field service technical support and troubleshooting.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Technical consulting for all mechanical operating issues of local turbomachinery fleet.
  • Technical support for MAN field service personnel.
  • Technical repair support for local workshop.
  • Technical sales support on local turbomachinery fleet, MAN fleet and 3rd party.
  • Regular participation on customer visits in the region in order to recognize and develop business opportunities for all PrimeServ products like spare parts, revamps, service contracts and field service.
  • Identify, develop, and implement opportunities of third party machine business with existing and new customers.
  • Technical subject matter expert on transfer and exchange data with MAN Headquarters overseas.
  • Implementation of problem and damage analysis including reporting and documentation.
  • Support front sales personnel with walk-throughs, customer visits and customer meetings in order to grow the sales funnel. 
  • Participation and support in the 24/7 customer hotline and fleet operation monitoring program.
  • Align, exchange and report gained insight with the MAN headquarters overseas.
  • Any other reasonable duties and responsibilities required from the business.

 

Required Education:   

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering

 

Required Experience:

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in rotating equipment consulting activities, erection of turbomachinery, rotating equipment and sub systems and or design thereof.
  • Strong personal and social skills to maintain good customer relation in strained situations.
  • Broad understanding of operational behavior of turbomachinery, their components and their principle control philosophies.
  • Strong analytical skills as well as vital imagination and intuition to explore root causes of given problems.

 

Required 3rd party Certifications/Qualifications:  None.

Other skills:

Essential:       

  • Ability to handle multi projects at the time and to prioritize tasks.
  • Skilled in computer operations and fluency in English.
  • Profound knowledge of turbomachinery erection and installation, turbomachinery operational behavior and design details of their components.

Desirable:       

  • SAP experience is preferred
  • Fluency in Spanish and German would be ideal.
  • Profound knowledge of design details of turbomachinery sub-systems and their components
  • Experience in reverse engineering activities
  • Experience as turbomachinery field service engineer
  • Experience in working with standard IT systems (Office, SAP, etc.)

 

Physical Requirements:   Works in a routine office environment with frequent sitting and occasional standing.
