Project Management - Project Manager

Summary: The Project Manager is part of dynamic and highly specialized customer facing team whose mission is to provide customers with state of the art turbomachinery trains engineered and built by MAN ES for a variety of industrial applications.   The task is to manage the execution of projects within a global matrix organization and to ensure all aspects of the project deliverables are met or exceeded during the key phases of the execution of complex projects such as : Hand over from Sales, Project Kick Off , Equipment Design Review, HAZOP Review, Procurement of components, Manufacturing, Packaging, Testing and delivery of the hardware/equipment to the customer, until the end of the warranty period.  Additionally the Project Manager will assist  our field service team with  project specific information and technical requirements needed for the installation and commissioning of the equipment in the field.

 

 

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Abide by company safety and compliance policies and ensure that other project managers in the department to abide by these policies as well.
  • Manage the project successfully to deliver the contractual scope of supply, on time, within budget, meeting MAN ES quality standards and internal processes in order to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Accountable for financial and technical management of own projects.
  • Measure Product Center’s performance in project execution and participate in corrective action and lessons learned discussions to improve such performance.
  • Project controlling in close cooperation with the Head of Project Management
  • Drives bottom and top line growth on own projects.
  • Indemnification of the Claim Management, the Quality Management and the HSE Management.
  • Responsible for the project and contract documentation (Documentation Management).
  • Ability to interpret general arrangement drawings, process and flow diagrams,  industry standards ,  and requirements for design, construction, and testing of rotating machinery and other types of technical information related to the MAN ES scope of supply.
  • Ability to understand and communicate to client  technical information on topics unique to MAN ES scope of supply such as manufacturing processes, machinery design and modifications, instrument and control, package design and integration, component interface, piping and welding, accessories, testing procedures and more.
  • Coordinates project procurement to make sure equipment being delivered meets both technical and commercial requirements.
  • Coordinates local packaging to assure compliance to project technical requirements and deadlines.
  • Cooperates with project related counterpart in the home office.
  • Manages project contracts closely with the Commercial Bid Manager.
  • Oversees own project installations and coordinates with Field Service Manager, OEM Products.
  • Support Sales to reduce project risk and confides with sales during project execution.
  • Cooperates with Aftermarket Teams to improve products and execution.
  • Work requires willingness to work a flexible schedule and travel.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Required Education:

  • College degree with a technical major, preferably mechanical engineering.

 

Required Experience:

  • 5 plus years pertinent experience in complex projects (preferably in turbomachinery projects).

 

Required 3rd party Certifications/Qualifications:  None.

 

Other skills:

  • SAP proficient.
  • Project Management Systems.
  • Microsoft Office.
  • 2nd language German or Spanish preferred.

Physical Requirements:  Visits to industrial production plants, construction sites and manufacturing facilities which may be located in harsh climates and environments.
