Golf Course Greenskeeper (FT or PT Seasonal)

Job Summary

The Golf Course Greenskeeper performs maintenance work and is responsible for the overall appearance and upkeep of The Mountain Ridge and The Betsie Valley golf courses under the supervision of The Golf Course Management Team. This is an entry level position working early mornings approximately 6:00a.m. to 11:00a.m., with opportunities to work with other departments to gain full time employment.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Performs detailed workmanship following management instruction and training to achieve high level course conditions.
• Uses various mowers, blowers, bunker raking equipment, and landscaping hand tools to maintain the turf areas of the golf courses.
• Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies and promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
• Maintains non-turf grass areas to desired conditions. Removes limbs, leaves, and debris. Blows/edges cart paths.
• Responsible for maintaining bunkers. Mows and edges grass surrounds. Hand and machine rakes bunkers. Ensures proper sand levels are present in the edges and bottoms.
• Assists with golf course projects to include but not limited to construction and seeding of new greens, tees and fairways.
• Communicates issues of concern regarding the greens, turf, golf courses, and machinery to the supervisor.
• Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Education:

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Combination of education and experience that enables performance of all aspects of the position.

Physical & Other Requirements:

• Ability to lift 50 lbs. or more and have full range of motion.

• Must be willing and able to bend, stoop and twist repeatedly throughout the day.
• Must be willing to work for extended periods outside in all weather conditions.
• Weekends, some evenings and holiday are a regular part of the schedule.
• Must have unrestricted and insurable driving record in order to be able to drive turf vehicles and mowers.
• Non-smoking candidates preferred.
