About the YMCA of Greater Brandywine: The YMCA of Greater Brandywine (YGBW), an association of eight YMCAs serving Chester County, is a non-profit organization committed to nurturing the potential of every child, promoting healthy living and fostering social responsibility through life-changing programs for all.  

Position Purpose: Under the guidance of the Director of Aquatics, the Pool Manager will provide leadership for lifeguards and member service staff and actively participate in the day to day management of the outdoor pool facility.   

  

Responsibilities:  

 

  • Operate and maintain the Outdoor Pool facility in a manner consistent with YMCA Membership Policies.
  • Respond to all emergencies in accordance with the Emergency Action Plan.
  • Supervise the lifeguards, swim instructors, and member service staff.
  • Deliver safe, enjoyable instructional and recreational swim programs to all program participants; specifically develop lessons plans for weeklong aquatic sports camp.
  • Maintain all appropriate records relating to the operation of the pool and state regulations.
  • Manage any special events held at the pool.
  • Maintain the pool and its grounds in a safe, risk-free environment at all times.
  • Communicate pool rules to members in a positive and effective manner.
  • Maintain all necessary supplies for effective operation of the pool including, but not limited to, chemicals, cleaning supplies, food and safety equipment.
  • Maintain and monitor functions of financial transactions with the pool including all income associated with the snack bar, merchandise sales, and member application processing.
  • Assist in the inspection and daily cleaning of pool/locker room/shower facilities.
  • Plan, organize and lead In-Service training.
  • Conduct operational VAT drops in compliance with Ellis and Associates.
  • Ensure compliance with all YGBW policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned. 

 

Qualifications:  

 

  • At least 18 years of age or older  
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Two or more years’ experience with pool facilities and their operating systems 
  • Current lifeguard certification including CPR/First Aid Certification.
  • Experience with the supervision of staff and member relations
