About the YMCA of Greater Brandywine: The YMCA of Greater Brandywine (YGBW), an association of eight YMCAs serving Chester County, is a non-profit organization committed to nurturing the potential of every child, promoting healthy living and fostering social responsibility through life-changing programs for all.


Position Purpose: The UMLY School of Dance Education is hiring an experienced Dance Educator to lead dance classes for children ages 2 and up. Applicant should have a strong understanding of teaching methods and teaching foundational through advanced dance technique in various genres to children and teens, a passion for providing quality community dance education and strong communication skills.  Weekday afternoons and weekend availability. This position is for 20 hours a week.

 

Responsibilities: 

 

  • Assists with specific activities, teaching, choreography, rehearsal, for all participants. 
  • Leads with enthusiasm and positive motivation in the program. 
  • Manage all equipment to ensure safety.  
  • Maintains a clean and risk-free environment. 
  • Ensures all children are picked up by parents. 
  • Promotes other YMCA programs by handing out brochures, answering questions, or referral to the appropriate person. 
  • Ensures compliance with all YGBW policies and standard operating procedures. 
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Must be 15 years of age or older 
  • Demonstrate ability to develop and teach skills 
  • Prior knowledge and at least 1 year of experience in the program area 
  • Ability to effectively use technology for programmatic needs 
  • Obtain and maintain all new hire certifications and training within 90 days of hire
