Shifts/Availability: Varies

Rate: $15.00-20.00

 

About the YMCA of Greater Brandywine: The YMCA of Greater Brandywine (YGBW), an association of eight YMCAs serving Chester County, is a non-profit organization committed to nurturing the potential of every child, promoting healthy living and fostering social responsibility through life-changing programs for all. 

 

Position Purpose: The YMCA of Greater Brandywine Pickleball Coordinator will assist in the development and implementation an Association-wide strategy to enhance and grow the pickleball program across Chester County within the YMCA system of membership.
 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Develop clinic and lesson schedule including Intro to Pickleball offered weekly.
  • Working with the members, develop a welcoming environment that encourages all ages and skill levels to participate.
  • Responsible for the planning, organizing, implementing and delivery of high-quality programs.
  • Implement special events and/or tournaments to promote the sport and build community.
  • Identify risk management issues. Provide branch coordination to all departments to ensure successful communication, special events and program growth.
  • Coordinate/train volunteers that work specifically in areas of assignment.
  • Lead by example at all times. Interact with a high level of professionalism and accountability.
  • Create relationships and build connections with our players to help with mission advancement and be able to target volunteers for our annual campaign.
  • Help identify high-volume playtimes that need staff support and checking in during those times.
  • Spot-checking playtimes and ensuring members that sign up are showing up and those on the waitlist are not (enforcing rules and guidelines).
  • Ensuring that members follow our member code of conduct and documenting incidents timely and reporting them to the branch Executive Director.
  • Ensure the gym space is clean, organized, and ready for pickleball playtimes.
  • Check nets regularly for repairs and work with facilities on repairs or ordering new equipment when needed. Taking ownership of branch pickleball equipment and ensuring equipment is stored properly and safely.
  • Learn Pickleball Den to help assist members with our technology when needed.
  • Be the branch lead on canceling pickleball playtimes in the Den for blood drives or other branch events that are scheduled and conflict with pickleball play.
  • Hire, train, and supervise additional staff to provide group lessons, private lessons, classes, special events, and to monitor open play as needed.
  • Attend staff meetings and trainings as required.
  • Ensure compliance with all YGBW policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Familiar with the game of Pickleball including a mastery of the game and ability to teach and share the sport with others.
  • Certified or become a certified pickleball instructor within 90-120 days of hire.
  • Minimum of two years of educational or recreational experience with the YMCA or within another organization preferred.
  • Ability to direct programs through supervision of volunteers and staff required.
  • Preferred knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.
  • YMCA Team Leader certification preferred.
  • Must be fluent in spoken and written English.
  • Obtain and maintain all new hire certifications and trainings within 90 days of hire.
