About the YMCA of Greater Brandywine: The YMCA of Greater Brandywine (YGBW), an association of eight YMCAs serving Chester County, is a non-profit organization committed to nurturing the potential of every child, promoting healthy living and fostering social responsibility through life-changing programs for all.
Position Purpose: Develop specialized programs and conduct one-on-one personal training sessions for members of the Jennersville Y.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct personal training sessions and fitness assessments as scheduled and provide assistance in a safe, enthusiastic, thorough, courteous, and professional manner.
- Communicate with current and potential personal training clients in a timely fashion.
- Follow YMCA of Greater Brandywine guidelines for screening personal training clients.
- Report to scheduled sessions on time and be available to provide assistance.
- Ensure that proper exercise techniques are utilized by all members.
- Report any mechanical or breakdown problems immediately to supervisor and document on maintenance log book.
- Encourage members to wipe down vinyl seating of strength and cardiovascular equipment and benches after use during orientation and training sessions as well as general use.
- Solicit members to participate in personal training program.
- Promote a healthy lifestyle.
- Understand, follow and enforce all wellness center and staff policies.
- Participate in special events and open houses throughout the year.
- Ensure compliance with all YGBW policies and standard operating procedures.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of basic and advanced exercise principles required
- Strong interest in health and fitness; work towards a bachelor’s degree in exercise science or health-related preferred
- Possess and maintain a personal training certification from a nationally accredited association. Approved organizations/certifications: ACE (CPT), AFPA (CPT), ISSA (CPT), IFPA (APFT), NSCA (CPT), NASM (CPT), etc.
- Obtain and maintain all additional new hire certifications and trainings within 90 days of hire
