We are seeking a Logistic Coordinator to join our team in Vulcan, AB. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a strong work ethic, analytical skills, attention to detail, strong written and verbal communication skills, and be able to work independently or as part of a team.
Responsibilities:
- Manages and schedules incoming/outgoing shipments as required.
- Communicates shipping instructions via dispatch software, email and phone.
- Optimizes loads with available equipment.
- Enters new orders and freight accrual into dispatch software.
- Records shipments in dispatch software, generating all required paperwork for shipments (customs papers, PAPS/PARS, freight charges, etc.) Forwards paperwork as necessary to all appropriate individuals, internal and external.
- Has the ability to understand permitting requirements for the movement of utility poles and has the ability to apply for permits.
- Monitors truck tracking/ELD software to determine best utilization of drivers.
- Manage driver hours of service to ensure compliance to MOT regulations.
- Tracks detention for truck fleet.
- Schedules rail car unloading for boom trucks.
- Assigns drivers to shipments and follows up on deliveries.
- Collaborates with plant operations and transportation team to optimize efficiency.
- Manages on time deliveries for in and outbound shipments.
- Resolves issues related to service deliveries, claims, directions, driver paperwork, Transport Canada regulations and permits.
- Notifies customers of delivery schedule.
- Coordinates freight quotes as needed for new business.
- Communicates delays/issues proactively and provides updates to sales staff and customers for any shipment issues or delays.
- Performs the work safely according to applicable codes, standards and to Stella-Jones health and safety program.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills:
- Grade 12 or equivalent.
- Minimum 1 year of transportation and/or dispatching experience.
- Proficiency in English, spoken and written.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Time and stress management.
Knowledge of:
- Transportation requirements.
- Truck weight and loading capacities.
- Ability to work independently and be flexible regarding work assignments.
- Intermediate Computer Skills (Microsoft Office)
- Basic Math Skills.

- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with customers both face-to-face and through phone calls.
