Director of Business Development – Commercial Construction
 

The Director of Business Development-Western Division is responsible for providing strategic leadership, direction, and execution of SouthernCarlson’s fast growing commercial construction segment through the expansion of existing customers and new target customers. The Director of Business Development will identify strategic growth opportunities in new and existing markets. The Director of Business development will create strong relationships both internally and externally to grow SouthernCarlson’s customer, employee, and vendor base.


Responsibilities:

  • Perform target market evaluations to define customer service level expectations, competitive landscape, commercial real estate environment, logistic constraints, and local labor market climate.
  • Build annual operating plans to support the business case for new investment opportunities.
  • Make key decisions for the organization by analyzing ROI, risk, and cost/benefit.
  • Lead the design and implementation of new location startups and expansion of existing locations.
  • Responsible for taking new ventures to profitability on time.
  • Increase customer acquisition and revenue through new trade and product development.
  • Work with executive team to facilitate business planning and reporting.
  • Support the Sales organization by ensuring operational requirements are in place to execute our service proposition.
  • Create a talent pipeline through networking, referrals, and proactive business development.
  • Develop, manage, and motivate to retain sales and operational talent.
  • Mentor top performing team members to ensure they are reaching their career goals.
  • Facilitate Change Management initiatives to ensure the organization is equipped with adequate infrastructure and processes to support growth.

Qualifications Include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ten years of industry or similar industry sales experience
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with a continuous improvement mindset
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to set, monitor, and achieve goals
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize accordingly
  • Skilled in communicating effectively verbally and in writing
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Knowledge of and the ability to utilize technology and online tools
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
