SCOPE OF THE POSITION

The Warehouse Lead Hand is responsible for ensuring that all activities (inventory, storing, receiving, and shipping) are carried out by all Material Handlers, to meet and exceed the Company’s expectations in an efficient and timely manner while meeting all customer requirements. The successful candidate must have strong organizational and multitasking skills.

the mandate:

  • Assign work and direct receivers to unload carriers’ trucks and prepare to receive information.
  • Notify the QA department of incoming Raw Materials for inspection requirements.
  • Direct staff to put away received product.
  • Coordinate Picking requirements and fulfillment with the Production department.
  • Advise the Manager/Supervisor, Warehouse of any receiving or floor discrepancies.
  • Completing the nightly Shift Report
  • Attending the Bi-Weekly Roundtable and Weekly Leadership Meetings
  • Responsible for accounting for items manually and electronically to ensure inventory is tracked accurately.
  • Assist in the process of special counts and all physical inventories.
  • Ensuring the nightly Utility tasks are completed.
  • Follow GMP/HACCP and department safety rules.
  • Assist with all Shipping, Receiving, and Picking functions as required.
  • Acts as SME and trains employees on all systems and processes.
  • Assist other departments and perform other duties as requested.  

MUST HAVES:

  • Grade 12 education required; post-secondary education in a related field preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years experience as a Shipper/Receiver in a Warehouse environment (preferably in the Food Manufacturing industry).
  • Proficient in an RF-based warehouse management system.
  • Ability to utilize a computer effectively as well as Microsoft Email/Excel/Word.
  • Must be a certified Forklift Operator.
  • Ability to lead, encourage, coach, and participate in a multi-functional, team-based environment.
  • Strong oral and written communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
