SCOPE OF THE POSITION

 

The Material Planner is responsible for managing material inventory, ensuring timely replenishment, and overseeing customer orders. They communicate with suppliers, monitor inventory levels, and address any issues that may arise. Additionally, they collaborate with various departments and contribute to strategic decision-making processes. The role requires effective communication, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while fostering teamwork.

 

THE MANDATE:

  • Review MRP daily to determine the appropriate timing and quantity for placing Purchase Orders with suppliers, ensuring optimal inventory levels.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of existing inventory levels and requirements before initiating purchase orders, effectively managing inventory turnover and minimizing excess stock.
  • Ensure that all purchase orders are placed in accordance with production schedules and lead times to meet business needs and customer demands.
  • Confirm orders with suppliers and follow up as necessary to ensure timely delivery of materials, maintaining smooth production processes.
  • Communicate any supplier-related issues or delays promptly to internal stakeholders, facilitating proactive problem-solving and minimizing disruptions.
  • Review customer orders to assess material availability and confirm timely delivery, supporting customer satisfaction and order fulfillment.
  • Update pending order deliveries promptly to ensure accurate tracking and coordination with production schedules.
  • Notify customers promptly of any delays or changes in material availability, maintaining transparency and managing expectations.
  • Manage inventory parameters such as minimum order quantities and lead times, supporting the optimization of supply chain operations.
  • Provide regular updates during supply review calls, contributing to informed decision-making and proactive risk management.
  • Develop and implement best practices for handling expiring or short-shelf-code materials, minimizing waste and ensuring efficient inventory management.
  • Support new product launches and transitions by managing material demand schedules and ensuring timely availability of required materials.
  • Drive work-order conformance by monitoring and maintaining metrics related to order fulfillment, contributing to overall operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.

 

THE CANDIDATE:

  • Diploma or degree, preferably in Logistics Management or Supply Chain Management.
  • Minimum of 4-6 years of related experience in materials planning or progressive roles within Supply Chain.
  • Preference to APICS, cSCMP or CSCP designations or completion of certification is in process.
  • Demonstrates strong time management and organizational skills. Ability to prioritize is critical to success in the role.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written).
  • Proficient with ERP Systems (Microsoft DAX, SAP, Oracle) and advanced skills in MS Office (Excel, Word).
