We support many of the brands that consumers reach for every day.  We are a fast-paced business with international customers and continual challenge.  We need smart, versatile people who can share their skills and energy with our team as we continue our success.  Currently we have an immediate opportunity for a Human Resources Director based out of Brampton, Ontario.

SCOPE OF THE POSITION

Reporting to the Chief People Officer (CPO), the Human Resources Director will act as a key leader within the Skjodt-Barrett Human Resources team and a Business Partner to the organization. You will lead HR team members in Canada and the US. As a team you will be focused on delivering core HR processes and on improving how we attract, develop, retain, and engage people across Skjodt-Barrett to grow our business and our people. The role will work closely with the CPO to develop and implement a People Strategy that will grow our business, the people who work at Skjodt-Barrett and the HR team. The successful candidate will have previous experience working in a culturally diverse work environment and fostering positive relationships with leaders and people both in the office and on the production floor. 

 

THE MANDATE:

  • Lead and develop the capability of the HR team and provide sound and engaging coaching and management in the delivery of core HR and employee relations.
  • Improve core HR processes and initiatives in areas such as recruiting, onboarding, performance management, and compensation finding the most efficient and effective approach.
  • Lead the HR team to design and deliver key measurable initiatives in areas such as people leadership and supervisory performance, general development, engagement, and retention of people.
  • Work with the CPO, HR team and leaders in the organization to set a vision for people and HR and execute against the achievement of that vision through improving talent management, HR efficiency and effectiveness through an HR scorecard.
  • Serve as a HR Business Partner to Executive Committee (EC) members, maintaining close relationships, across Operations, Sales, Supply Chain, Finance and Business Transformation.
  • Anticipate and respond to business needs from the EC with urgency, actively re-prioritizing to address the most critical items.
  • Adeptly analyze trends (in our business and industry) and human resources best practices to proactively identify opportunities to improve HR.
  • Problem-solve on complex issues across the organization, using sound judgement anticipating, communicating, and navigating challenges.

 

THE CANDIDATE:

  • 10 - 15 years progressive experience in HR, with some experience in an environment with hourly and salary employees at a manufacturing facility.
  • Experience leading and managing a HR team across different areas of HR and preferably across Canada and US.
  • Proven ability to engage executive level leaders and influence strategic decision-makers.
  • Able to manage cross-functional teams and ensure those teams have sufficient skills and experience to meet the objectives.
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or other related field from an accredited institution with advanced degree in HR or Masters in Organization Development preferred.
  • Can commit to working 2 days a week from the Brampton office.
