Job Description

Department:  Night Sanitation - 505

Job
Title:
Night Sanitor

ESSENTIAL
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following. Other duties may be
assigned.

Clean and sanitize all
  processing rooms, equipment and

production machinery according
  to written or verbal

instructions

Clean and sanitize
  pits, smokehouse and cooling units

according to written
  or verbal instruction

Maintain the
  cleanliness of drain and grease traps. 
 

Remove any meat
  residue or grease blockage

Remove all trash from
  the plant and clean all trash

containers

Clean all walk-through
  floor areas, rubber boots, and

plastic dividers for
  the plant as needed

Assist the lead person
  and supervisor in solving problems

related to the
  cleaning process

Clean cooling socks
  according to written and verbal

instruction

Prepare chemical
  cleaner according to written and verbal

instruction

Check and refill all
  sanitizers in all processing rooms

Sweep and mop dry
  goods warehouse, boxing area, and

behind all major
  electric circuit boxes to maintain insect,

rodent, and trash free
  environment

Inspect all Processing
  rooms, equipment & facilities after

being cleaned to
  ensure that all cleaning processes are

complete

Consult with
  Sanitation Supervisor on observations and

suggestions concerning
  cleaning procedures and food

safety issues

Maintain sanitation
  manual and monitor sanitation

personnel to ensure
  SOPs are being correctly followed

Train new sanitation
  technicians in the performance of

all essential
  sanitation and safety tasks

Maintain communication
  between Quality Assurance

and Sanitation staffs

Maintain all cleaning
  equipment and supplies:  automatic

floor scrubber, pallet
  jacks, respirators, chemicals, etc.

Ensure cleanliness and
  tidiness of chemical room is

properly maintained,
  as well as inventory reporting on

chemicals

 

Responsible for
  lockout/tag out procedures being properly

followed

Fill out required
  paperwork:  alkalinity test records,

sanitizer strength
  verification records, etc.

Ensure the
  availability of water by monitoring and

resetting the water
  pump when necessary

Responsible for
  corrective actions to environmental plan

Sweep and mop
  restrooms, break room and stock paper

towels in restrooms
  and production areas

To load separated
  laundry into the washer and to use

the appropriate amount
  of laundry chemicals to wash the

laundry, if chemicals
  are needed contact the Supervisor

To remove the washed
  clothes from the washer and place

them into the dryer to
  be dried, remove the dried clothes

from the dryer and to
  fold or hang them

to pick up smocks from
  the production areas and bring

them to the laundry
  area

Replace stock of beard
  guards and hair nets in all stations

throughout the plant

Exposure to Chemicals
  for cleaning the plant and the

laundry

Must be able to lift
  25 lbs., push and pull a cart, stand

for long periods and
  walk for at least 30 minutes at a time

Other duties deemed
  necessary by management

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION
and/or EXPERIENCE
:  High school diploma or
GED strongly preferred.

 

REASONING
ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of
concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral,
diagram, or schedule form.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds,

vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability
to adjust focus. The work environment characteristics described here are representative

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly
works near moving mechanical parts.

SQF:

  • Assure compliance with all SQF Procedures requirements.

  • Assure compliance with all GMP requirements.

  • Assure all products are manufactured in a safe, quality manner.

  • Assure compliance with all customer specifications.

  • Promote and enforce compliance with all employees.

  • Report any quality or food safety issues immediately.

 

In the event of a food safety issue, the employee is to report the issue to QA Management (QA Supervisor or QA Manager).  Should the QA Manager be absent from the plant, the employee should escalate the issue to the Director of Technical Service, the Director of Operations, or the EVP of Operations.

 

If your
direct supervisor/manager is absent from the plant, please refer to the
Director of Technical Services, Director of Operations, or VP of Operations.
