Working in the corporate Information Technology team located in Ottawa, the Network Administrator will have the responsibility to deploy and maintain the fundamental network and security systems used by Ross Video and be part of a core team that directly contributes to the company’s success. The successful candidate will be in their final year or a recent college graduate in computer science, information technology, or related field. The candidate will be under the guidance of the Team Lead, Network Operations.

What the job is all about:

 

  • Responsible for monitoring, threat hunting, uptime, and operation within established service levels.
  • Provide assistance in resolving basic technology and cyber support issues.
  • Assist in delivery of IT projects of medium to large scope, including new system rollouts, facility moves, server and network environment deployments.
  • Executes maintenance plans for IT Network and Security Infrastructure.
  • Assists with the creation, maintenance, and validation of appropriate disaster avoidance and recovery plans.
  • Optimizes servers and network infrastructure, VPN, and Firewalls in consultation with the Team Lead, Network Operations
  • Troubleshoot network, computer, or system failures
  • Liaise with external providers where appropriate (Telco/ISP, AWS, Azure, etc)
  • Assist IT Help Desk Technicians as required., support other Systems Administrators as needed
  • Troubleshoot assigned IT Help Desk tickets
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to support company operations after core business hours.
  • Perform other related duties as required

 

Who you are:

 

  • Bachelor/College degree in a computer science, information technology, or related field, or equivalent training and/or co-op experience
  • CCNA / RHCE / MCSA / Network+
  • Approachable and excellent communication skills
  • Team player but able to work independently
  • Able to envision the entire project and look for problem areas
  • Organized, thorough, and very detail orientated
  • High initiative and well-developed analytical skills
  • Technical, mechanical, hands-on person
  • Up to 2 years' experience in Networking
  • Strong knowledge of networking and security protocols
  • Experience working with Palo Alto Firewalls and Dell/Aruba networking a plus but not necessary
  • Experience with Routing Protocols (OSPF, BGP)
  • Networking Automation and monitoring
  • Technical Linux and Windows or PC hardware background a plus
  • Experience operating in a R&D and Manufacturing environment a plus
  • Experience with Mitel MiCollab back-end repository a plus.
  • A valid driver’s license and clean driving record, a reliable vehicle is a must.
  • Travel as required.
  • Ability to obtain a valid Passport if required
