Job Summary:

As a Commercial Underwriter / Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the underwriting process for commercial insurance policies and managing a team of underwriters. You will play a critical role in assessing risks, ensuring compliance with company policies and guidelines, and making informed decisions to protect the company’s interests.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Review and analyze commercial insurance applications, assessing risks, and determining appropriate coverage and pricing.
• Develop and maintain underwriting guidelines, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
• Collaborate with other departments, such as claims and sales, to ensure a smooth and efficient underwriting process.
• Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory changes that may impact underwriting decisions.
• Evaluate and negotiate complex risks, including large commercial accounts and specialty lines of business.
• Provide underwriting support and expertise to underwriters, brokers, and other stakeholders.
• Monitor the performance of underwriters, identifying areas for improvement and implementing necessary training and development initiatives.
• Participate in strategic planning and contribute to the development and implementation of underwriting strategies.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience or equivalent industry knowledge
• Strong analytical and decision-making skills, with the ability to evaluate complex risks and make sound underwriting decisions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
• Strong leadership and team management abilities, with a focus on fostering a positive and productive work environment.
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
• Results-oriented mindset with a focus on achieving business objectives while maintaining high-quality standards.

Compensation: $50k to $70k, if licensed, a participation in department profit sharing

Schedule: FT, M-F
