Engineering - Utility Engineer

The Utility Engineer assists Engineer I, II and III’s in daily operation. Conducts minor repairs and maintenance on plumbing, physical structure, electrical fixtures, machinery, heating, air conditioning, refrigeration, spa, kitchen and laundry equipment, using hand and power tools, electrician, and plumbing tools. Will complete work orders using Knowcross and  as assigned by supervisor; respond immediately to guest room maintenance requests, etc.; respond to emergencies; and perform necessary assignments to ensure guest and employee safety. Will also back up loss prevention for emergency situations.

Essential: 

1) Must pass cart training 

2) Basic knowledge of electricity. 

3) Basic knowledge of plumbing. 

4) Basic knowledge of carpentry 

5) Basic knowledge of hand and power tools. 

6) Ability to work well with others. 

7) Ability to take direction and work unsupervised. 

Desirable: 

1) 1-2 years previous experience in hotel, building or commercial building maintenance. 2) CPR/first aid qualified. 

3) Knowledge of HVAC/R 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS​:

1. Responsible for routine maintenance and repair of entire physical plant. 

2. Work as a “Prompt Response” Engineer using  Knowcross 

3. Respond immediately to guest room maintenance requests, etc. 

4. Respond to emergencies. 

5. Perform necessary adjustments to situations to ensure guest and employee safety. 

6. Will back up loss prevention for emergency situations. 

7. Refers to blue prints and manuals. 

8. Inspects and observes equipment in operation for defects, listens for sounds to locate causes of trouble 

9. Replaces drive belts and filters on equipment. 

10. Starts devices to test their performance. 

11. Replaces washers and seals and clears clogged drains 

12. Changes light bulbs throughout the hotel. 

13. Repair/ Replace locks and Saflok Entryway locks. 

14. Replace switches and receptacles. 

15. Maintains shop, call carts, and other work areas in a clean and organized condition. 

16. Exhibit 5 Star Standard identified within the Engineering Department and in conjunction with Ojai Valley Inn & Spa standards.

The pay for this position is $20/hour
