Summary
Under general direction, the Environmental Program Technician is responsible for administering key environmental programs in the Utility Department specific to the potable water system for Backflow Prevention and wastewater collection system for Fat, Oil and Grease (FOG) Programs and initiate water and wastewater work orders and calculate tap fees. 

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Conducts backflow, customer service and oil and grease inspections including grease interceptors and maintains data base for each Program in accordance to State and Federal laws
• Responds to inquiries and complaints related to both programs
• Manages and participates in the annual budget process
• Reviews plans and drawings and provides input to the Utility Manger for the construction and installation of backflow prevention devices and grease collections systems
• Identifies use sites where protection devices are necessary; notifies and advises customers of devices required; follows-up to ensure that the appropriate devices have been installed
• Maintains and delivers various reports to the Environmental Programs Manager
• Provides semi-annual update for each program to the Environmental Programs Manager and other key members of leadership
• Initiates work orders for water and wastewater taps
• Oversees the water and wastewater taps data tracking; assigns pressure zones and sets up new accounts
• Assists in managing, planning, developing and delivering educational material to customers  
• Follows City policies, procedures, and safety guidelines
• Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Two (2) years of Environmental Program Technician experience in a related area

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

• Valid TCEQ issued Backflow Prevention Assembly Testing (BPAT) license
• Valid Customer Service Inspection (CSI) license
• D Water Distribution License
• Wastewater Class I License
