Building Maintenance Technician - Events at Mayborn Center

Summary
Under direct supervision of the Event Coordinator, perform general labor necessary to facilitate set-ups and clean-ups for assigned events held at the Mayborn Convention Center.  Responsible for maintaining a high level of cleanliness in the restrooms and throughout the facility.  Perform repairs on work orders and requests. Request supplies and equipment when necessary.  Available to work assigned weekends, holidays, and variable hours during normal workweek.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Performs general labor duties to set-up for events; positions, removes and stores items and equipment for each event which includes staging, tables, chairs, trash cans, and sound equipment  
• Performs minor repair and maintenance of facility, exhibits, and light equipment
• Sweeps, mops and buffs floors
• Cleans outside of the facility and maintains landscaping 
• Cleans restrooms, duties include cleaning mirrors, counter tops, urinal, commodes, trash cans, stall panels, etc.
• Provides assistance and technical support for customers during events, as well as during set-up and tear down as needed
• Interacts professionally with the customers, vendors, and co-workers; follows departmental customer service standards
• Operates forklift, scissor lift, floor scrubber and other equipment and power tools as needed
• Works at heights up to 25 feet, able to climb ladder and use lift as needed
• Serves as a team lead as assigned; assists part-time staff in completing assigned tasks
• Follows City policies, procedures, and safety guidelines
• Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent
• One (1) year of experience in building maintenance or related area

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with setting up staging, lighting, and sound system equipment

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

• Certification to operate scissor lift and forklift or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
