Summary: Responsible for the proposal development and achievement of project profit margins, assistance in the development of the strategy, and related activities of the business unit of the region. Responsible for the concept and completeness of the quotation and subsequent sale of technically sophisticated and complex products in a comprehensive sales area.

Key Job Responsibilities:

    • Creates and organizes quotations, finds technical and commercial solutions to meet customer expectations and achieve MAN-ES’s business targets; development of the technical concept. Provide clarification of the scope and content of the project as well as explanation of detailed questions, if necessary, with the corresponding contact partners in the specialist departments
    • Responsible to support the growth strategies within the region (IGC) (customer visits, budget quotations, order intake)
    • Create preliminary costing and price negotiations within the guidelines
    • Lead initial negotiations, participate in final negotiations, and sign contracts (in line with sales guidelines and regulations)
    • Perform regional bid-coordination between customers/agents and Product Centers
    • Provide bid management for local projects
    • Maintain important customer contacts (selected Key Accounts)
    • Conduct inquiries according to the procurement guidelines of MAN-ES. Prepare a comprehensive bid comparison as basis for procurement decision
    • Partner with Sales in building-up customer relationships and follow through of the bidding process until the conclusion of the contract. If necessary, carry out further contractual negotiations to clarify or change technical and commercial details, if required with the support of the specialist departments and superior
    • Maintain knowledge in product, market and customer applications by developing customer contacts during the Bid processes
    • Preparation and conducting customer presentations
    • Create the final version of the order set
    • Transfer the assignment to the Project Manager and his team

 

Required Education:

    • Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent technical background

 

Required Experience:

    • Detailed understanding of the business both technical and commercial levels
    • Minimum seven years of experience in marketing, sales, application engineering, project engineering, and/or project management associated with complex engineer-to-order equipment.  Previous experience with CCS or Heat pump markets, large rotating equipment such as turbo-compressors, blowers, steam turbines, and gas turbines is strongly preferred. The candidate must be able to interact and work effectively with different cultures and nationalities.
    • Commercial background/experience

 

 

Desired Experience:

  • 2+ years’ experience in compressor application engineering, plus
  • 2+ years’ experience in compressor sales, plus
  • 2+ years’ experience in a commercial or estimating role, plus
  • 2+ years’ experience in project engineering or project management role, plus
  • Experience working with and commenting to API and other industrial standards.
  • Experience working with a global team.

Other skills:

    • Fluency in Business English
    • SAP or other ERP system, other foreign languages
    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety procedures, technical specifications, and legal contracts.
    • Ability to design and create presentations for customers.
    • Working knowledge of thermodynamics, aerodynamics, and rotor dynamics as applicable to compressors and turbines.
    • Ability to speak and write in English is required. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of MAN-ES.
    • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, areas, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
    • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
    • Familiarity with applicable industry standards (API, ASME, IEC, etc.) that are typically specified by clients for our equipment.

 

Physical Requirements:

    • The majority of the time this position requires sitting in one place for several hours working with a personal computer.  Domestic and foreign travel required.
