Summary 

As the Technical Field Sales Specialist, you will be the customer-facing and champion of our instrumentation and industrial hygiene business, charged with using solution-based selling processes to grow revenue, market share, and sustainable business relationships with existing and new clients across Ontario.

You will work in partnership with our general sales team members, vendors, and other internal partners.  You will have the ability to clearly differentiate our product and service offerings from the competition, gain insight into customers’ needs, and build a compelling business solution using consultative selling techniques and application of knowledge. 

Main Responsibilities

  • Develop a detailed and results-focused sales plan focused on achieving maximum revenues with available resources to effectively sell across all regional territories.
  • Coordinate one’s own time to assist the regional field sales on significant projects and territorial sales planning, especially in support of Preferred Safety Partnership target accounts.
  • Be able to develop an understanding of the needs of our customers and provide solutions to meet or exceed expectations.
  • Participate in trade shows and other customer-facing events including product demonstrations, training and consultations.
  • Work closely with suppliers to ensure professional contact is maintained, maximize symbiotic relationships with key suppliers for mutual benefit; develop a broad resource base to support your selling efforts.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, competition, and technical advancements to provide informed solutions and recommendations.
  • Attend sales meetings, gain product awareness through self-study, attend training classes, read manuals and ensure a high degree of product knowledge.
  • Support research to develop effective solutions for clients and writing of proposals.
  • Respond to customer quotation requests on significant opportunities and work closely with internal teams to ensure any issues are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Complete all administrative work (expenses, reports etc.) in a timely manner.
  • Provide exceptional support to internal and external customers and prospects in the market with a fanatical approach to customer service.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in Business and/or Science/Engineering
  • At least 3 years field sales experience preferably in the Safety and distribution industry, or 3 years experience in the instrumentation industry or technical sales.
  • Excellent communication skills with proven negotiation, presentation, selling and closing skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive results working successfully independently or in a team environment.
  • Strong organizational skills for both time management and prioritization of work activities.
  • Computer savvy with experience using a CRM system such as Salesforce or a similar software.
  • Proven ability to prioritize activities based on importance and critical needs.
  • The ability to travel up to 50% or more of the time and have your own reliable transportation.
