PT Distribution Manager

Assist in all areas of operation of the Distribution Center (DC) and distribute newspapers to independent contract carriers and bundle haulers. This includes all print products and any ancillary products, such as USA Today.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

  • Assist the Operations Manager or Distribution Manager with all areas of DC operations.
  • Assist in distributing bundles, other products, and carrier supplies at DC.
  • Transport and unload papers & products as needed.
  • Operation of DC in the absence of other staff.
  • Delivery of products/supplies to other facilities as needed.
  • Clean and maintain DC.
  • Other Duties as assigned.
  • Available as needed for early mornings every day of the week.
  • Delivers foot, motor, or single copy routes as assigned.
  • Knowledge of market area.
  • Work well with other personnel and independent contractors.
  • Demonstrates a passion for providing quality customer service.
  • Complete delivery before the deadline when able.
  • Placing products in a convenient location.
  • Protecting product from the elements.
  • Ensure all interactions with subscribers are positive.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

 

  • High school diploma or GED. 
  • Ability to communicate both in person and on the telephone.  
  • Ability to work in a team setting and embrace the concept of teamwork.  

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

 

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. 
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of contractors, customers, or employees of the organization.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

 

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 

 

REASONING ABILITY

 

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two- step instructions. 
  • Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

 

  • Valid driver's license, good driving record, and own (reliable) insured vehicle.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, and talk or hear.  The employee is occasionally required to stand, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms.  The employee must frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.  Employees will drive their own cars on company business and deliver papers in the dark.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, including open areas with ringing phones and people talking.

Work schedule may include overnight and early morning hours.
