JOB SUMMARY:

The ‘Senior Project Engineer’ is responsible for providing technical leadership and guidance in the field of mechanical engineering, management of construction projects and general, for our facilities located in Western Canada. The employee designs, tests, implements, and improves the process machinery and operations. The incumbent manages several capital and maintenance projects simultaneously and is responsible for all the aspects related to engineering. The employee manages human and material assets of the organization, in consonance with company policies, legal restrictions, human & material safety, quality standards, and environmental safety.

 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage every aspect of engineering projects, from conceptualising to commissioning of the projects (formulation of proposal, conceptualising designs, capital authorization, scope development, planning, scheduling, budgeting, prototype development, performance testing, cost control, and reassessment in case of emergency);
  • Deliver capital and maintenance project within demarcated scope, budget and time while maintaining the safety of human and material assets of the organization;
  • Improvise, plan and devise new engineering projects and strategy, for improving efficiency, safety, effectiveness of plant;
  • Select the equipment and machinery to be installed in refinery;
  • Assist other engineers and departments in completing projects;
  • Identify and implement cost saving initiatives related to processing technology, material, labor, efficiency, and storage;
  • Track any service to work, maintenance requirements in/around refinery; Work with the operations to ensure that the process machinery is running with full capacity and is suitable for manufacturing;
  • Ensure compliance with customer, regulatory, quality, environmental, and internal requirements;
  • Assist and perform safety observations and hazard assessment;
  • Preparing Gantt charts for effective planning, forecasting, budgeting and execution of projects;
  • Perform and co-ordinate root cause investigations & write technical documents;
  • Establish standards and guidelines for supplier evaluation;
  • Evaluate, select supplier/vendors & conduct vendor reviews.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE :

  • Bachelors’ in Mechanical Engineering along with P.Eng certification. PMP certification is an asset;
  • Minimum 10-15 years of experience in food processing, mechanics related to process, good manufacturing practices (GMP), food safety protocols, and process engineering;
  • Computer proficient, including Microsoft office suite & CAD (Computer-aided designs). Knowledge of ERP and other business management software is an asset;
  • Excellent knowledge of engineering codes, project management, legal regulation and standards, quality maintenance, and aligning procedure;
  • Understanding of Engineering professional practice, code of ethics, regulatory requirements such as EGBC, NFPA, TSBC, WSBC, CSA, Mechanical Engineering Design & Piping Standards;
  • Good knowledge of food production mechanics, food processing, GMP, food safety protocols, and food safety rules;
  • Good communicating and leadership skills, ability to interface with diverse personalities;
  • Good planning and organizing skills.
