SUMMARY:

Lantic is currently recruiting for the position of Process Engineer, reporting to the Plant Manager and based at our Montreal refinery. The Process Engineer provides technical support to operations and maintenance and proactively identifies process improvements that could be implemented at the Montreal refinery in order to reduce costs, improve efficiency and/or increase sugar recovery.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure continuous improvement of daily operations;
  • With the assistance of the work team, develop and propose capital expenditures that would be necessary to support these improvements and provide project management;
  • Work closely with the team to manage performance indicators, such as melt rate and improvement of management indicators;
  • Support the maintenance sector: validate maintenance work priorities during planned shutdowns in collaboration with supervisors, keep work orders carried out by supervisors up to date and act as technical support;
  • Also support the engineering sector: validation of concepts/development/schedules, provide specific data (operation statistics) and demonstrate their validity with all stakeholders concerned;
  • Coach, influence and mobilize employees based on the company's mission and values.


QUALIFICATIONS AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 

  • Bachelor's degree/graduate diploma in mechanical engineering (chemical/electrical knowledge an asset);
  • Be a member of the Order of Engineers;
  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience;
  • Factory manufacturing experience and expertise in manufacturing techniques, familiarity with continuous improvement concepts (Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, etc.);
  • Proficiency in Autocad or other design software;
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to create and execute project plans that achieved identified objectives;
  • Planning and project management skills;
  • Analysis and diagnostic capacity;
  • Ability to define a strategy including its implementation;
  • Good conflict management and informed decision making;
  • Be results-oriented and detail-oriented;
  • Ability to manage change and multiple tasks.
