Heavy Duty Mechanic 310T/310S

Reporting to the Fleet Maintenance Manager, this position is responsible for providing maintenance and repairs to our fleet of tractor trailer trucks.  

Job Responsibilities 

• Receive driver and owner/operator reports and conduct initial inspection to diagnose problems using test drives and test instruments (such as pressure gauges, computer software and other equipment as needed) 
• Conduct preventative maintenance inspections and repairs, air disc and drum brake repairs, warranty procedures, steering and suspension, electrical diagnostics etc. 
•  Clean, repair, recondition and maintain equipment and components 
• Responsible for getting equipment back up and running in the most efficient and cost-effective manner available 
• Perform all tasks according to Ippolito safety standards 
• Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and repairs in order to ensure the safe continuing operations of tractors and trailers. 
• Assist in preparing preventative and predictive maintenance schedules 
• Test repaired equipment for proper performance 
• Clean, lubricate and perform other maintenance work 
• Keep detailed and accurate maintenance reports and documentation, through written work orders  
• Ensure all shop tools are used and stored properly 
• Record parts and equipment utilized on the repair order  
• Maintain a clean and safe work area 
• Other mechanical repair work as required 

Education and Experience 

• 310T/310S Certification 
• related college diploma an asset 
• previous mechanic experience 
• familiarity with transport trucks and TRAILERS required 
• clean driving record 
• Customer service experience considered an asset 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 

• Valid Mechanics license 310T/310S
• Minimum one year’s experience as a Mechanic in the transportation industry 
• Possess valid G driver's license (A or D will be considered an asset) 
• Proven mechanical abilities in gas and diesel automotive repairs 
• Ability to work independently in a busy environment 
• Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing 
• Able to work well under pressure 
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with ability to record information into our work order software 
• Flexibility in hours and shifts 

Working Conditions 

• Most work is performed in a comfortable shop environment. 
• There is a low level of risk for accidents / safety issues involved in this position. 
• Outside weather may cause warm or cold working conditions.
