Job Title: Cash Applications Supervisor                                                    Department: Accounting

Reports To:  AR & Credit/Collections Manager                                        Location: HQ

Prepared Date:  January 2024                                                                   Status: Exempt

 

SUMMARY:

The Cash Applications Supervisor is responsible for the activities and operations for the cash applications team – AR Department. The main tasks are overseeing the cash applications staff, ensuring accurate financial records, and processing revenue generated by invoices processed.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

 

  • Identifying bank report activity
  • Assists in the development and implementation of goals, policies, priorities, and procedures relating to accounts receivable (AR) – specifically cash applications.
  • Identifying opportunities for process improvements. Streamlining accounting processes, implementing solutions agreed upon with process owners, and driving continuous improvement.
  • Participating in the monthly accounting close process by ensuring the cash team meets corporate close deadlines and preparing additional reporting as needed.
  • Supervises and participates in the preparation of various AR statements and reports.
  • Audits weekly AR for accuracy.
  • Assesses need and controls departmental expenditures in line with budget.
  • Coordinates preparation of internal and external audit materials.
  • Assists internal audits involving review of accounting and administrative controls.
  • Assists in establishing system controls for new financial systems and develops procedures to improve existing systems.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:                                           

Supervise employees on the cash applications team. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this team. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience:

 

  • Bachelor's degree or qualifying experience
  • Minimum of 4-6 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Strong analytical skills, organization and attention to numerical detail and financial information.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Strong Computer Skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel/Word/Outlook)
