The Virginia Eye Institute (VEI) is hiring!  VEI is a large and dynamic practice of ophthalmologists and optometrists in the Richmond, VA area.

We are searching for a Manager Optometrist to join our busy practice. 

The ideal candidate will be a team-player, self-starter, friendly, motivated, organized, and have the ability to work independently while sustaining a team environment.  A caring demeanor and the ability to build and maintain team rapport is critical.  The candidate must be highly productive, eager to learn, and motivated to succeed. 

 

Job Title: Managing Optometrist

Job Summary: The Managing Optometrist is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing and managing optometry services. This position requires a licensed and experienced optometrist with strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills. The Managing Optometrist is tasked with ensuring the delivery of high-quality eye care services, meeting operational goals, and fostering a positive and collaborative work environment within the optometry team.

Responsibilities:

  1. Clinical Leadership:
    • Provide clinical leadership to a team of optometrists.
    • Ensure compliance with professional standards, regulations, and best practices in optometry.
    • Foster a culture of continuous improvement in clinical services.
  1. Operational Management:
    • Oversee day-to-day operations of multiple optometry clinics.
    • Develop and implement operational policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and patient satisfaction.
    • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess and improve clinic performance.
  1. Staff Management and Development:
    • Recruit, train, and mentor optometrists and support staff.
    • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.
    • Support ongoing professional development and training initiatives.
  1. Patient Care and Customer Service:
    • Ensure a patient-centric approach, focusing on providing exceptional customer service and personalized care.
    • Address patient concerns and implement strategies to enhance the overall patient experience.
  1. Collaboration and Communication:
    • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including ophthalmologists, to optimize patient care.
    • Maintain open and effective communication channels with staff, management, and other stakeholders.
  1. Quality Assurance and Compliance:
    • Implement quality assurance programs to uphold clinical standards.
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards.
  1. Financial Management:
    • Contribute to budget development and monitor financial performance.
    • Identify opportunities for revenue growth and cost optimization.
  1. Technology Integration:
    • Stay updated on technological advancements in optometry and implement relevant tools to enhance clinical and operational processes.
  1. Community Engagement:
    • Build and maintain positive relationships within the community to enhance the clinic's reputation and patient base.
    • Participate in community outreach programs and educational initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited institution.
  • State optometry license in good standing.
  • Proven experience as an optometrist, with a track record of clinical excellence.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial and performance data.
  • Commitment to quality patient care and customer service.
  • Familiarity with relevant regulations and compliance standards.
