What part will you play?

 

Reporting directly to Director, Consulting, Diversified, the Principal Engineer, Media and Entertainment provides executive level engineering thought leadership, strategy & fulfillment in support of both project pursuit(s) and project execution supporting Diversified’s technical operations and sales teams company wide.

 

Additionally, this individual will provide overall subject matter expertise across Diversified’s Media & Entertainment and Workplace divisions - inclusive of our traditional and cloud-based broadcast design/build, sports & live events and media workflow group practice areas.  This individual will also represent the company as an active participant in various trade shows, standards organizations, and industry gatherings, representing Diversified.

 

What will you be doing?

 

  • Serve as engineering strategist for key customers, leading architectural and technical design approaches for facility wide and enterprise-wide consulting & design/build opportunities
  • Act as lead technologist supporting pre-sales and client discovery efforts, aiding in translating customer requirements into executable functional and technical specifications
  • Research and identification of industry opportunities and networking events to support Diversified’s mission to aggressively compete in  the media industry
  • Interact with the vendor community and maintain a working understanding of technology and product roadmaps to apply those to new project pursuits and service offerings as well as driving opportunity for creation of emerging technology offerings
  • Provide written and verbal communication in support of our teams in their major project pursuits and supporting these pursuits when so assigned.
  • Evaluate changing market conditions and continually refine the Media Consulting offerings and processes to maximize sales, efficiencies and project performance.
  • Identify and implement opportunities that enable Media to expand revenue opportunities in support of all Diversified vertical offerings
  • Support of the Consulting team, M&E and Regional Sales VPs when assigned to secure new projects for the company.  
  • Maintain an authoritative role versed in technology knowledge of vendor product offerings, and a firm perspective on the competitive landscape.
  • Standout as an industry evangelist inclusive of  Diversified’s Production, Distribution and IP 2110 Subject Matter Expert, in addition to related emerging technologies as they become relevant.
  • Define, communicate, and implement an architectural vision, supporting key implementation efforts.
  • Partner with the Innovation and Consulting team(s) within Diversified through participation in committees and industry events; Author and issue 2 white papers per year tied to key strategic projects
  • Other special and strategic responsibilities and duties commensurate with this position will be defined and communicated from time to time. 

 

What do we require from you?

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant business or technology field of study, or equivalent experience. A master’s degree would be a plus.
  • 10+ years of experience as a solutions architect/engineer or solutions professional and trusted customer advisor.
  • 3-5 years’ experience with software integration; 5-10 years’ experience with systems design engineering.
  • Some industry technical certifications, such as for SMPTE, SBE, networking, cloud, and related fields.
  • Experience with technology and business operations and strategies relevant to the production, post-production, processing, and distribution of audiovisual content, both live and file-based, for a variety of industries, including media, financial, retail, government, corporate enterprise, etc.
  • Proficient with many of the following: Agile/Scrum methodology, ST2110 platforms, PTP, HDTV/UHDTV, HDR, ATSC 3.0, Fiber Optics, Systems Orchestration, Broadcast Controllers, Encoding and Transcoding Systems, Tiered Storage and Object Storage, DAM and MAM solutions, Dante, Data Networking (Arista, Cisco, etc.), data security systems, cloud technology, as well as other media-related systems and solutions
  • Advanced and sophisticated written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate with and establish trust towards C-level executives, end users, customers, vendors, and manufacturers in a 1:1 and group setting.
  • Ability to listen, understand and convey highly complex information, and present in-depth technical solutions, related to media technology, pricing, terms and more.
  • Ability to travel and work in a light industrial environment.

Our compensation ranges reflect the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The pay details below range from our lowest geographic market up to our highest geographic market. Pay is based on several factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills and experience depending on the position offered, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
