Nurse Aide/HHA - Aide/Med Tech
A Medication Technician is an employee who has been trained and passed the Department of Human Services Medication Administration course. This person is responsible for preparing, administering, and documenting all medications. Provide direct patient care under the supervision of a Licensed Nurse and/or Personal Care Administrator.
Qualifications:
Certification as a Medication Technician' approved course thru Department of Human Services.
Be able to prepare and administer all medication in a timely fashion as deemed appropriate by the Department of Human Services.
Document administration of medications.
High school graduate or GED equivalent preferred.
Must be caring, compassionate, and understanding.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assists residents with activities of daily
living (ADLs) including eating and drinking, ambulating, transferring, toileting, bladder and bowel management, personal hygiene, bathing, dressing, turning and positioning
Assists with administration of medications
Completes all required documentation regarding medication administration.
Gives treatments as prescribed
Answers call bells and responds to resident needs promptly
Communicates observations and findings to the Charge Nurse
Documents care, treatments provided, and other information as required by regulations and policies/procedures.
Collects urine and stool specimens
Assists residents with obtaining and keeping clean, seasonal clothing, transporting to activities, changing linens, and keeping a safe, neat, clean room.
Prevents physical, psychological, and/or verbal abuse as
well as financial exploitation of the residents. Protects the resident
from all abusive situations and immediately reports any signs of abuse.
Employs healthy means for dealing with personal stress, which can be a trigger
for abuse.
