Job Description

We are seeking motivated individuals for Part Time Direct Support Professional positions to join our team!

The role of a DSP is to assist in the daily care of people with disabilities and provide on-site supervision and support 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. Your vital job functions are essential to members’ health, safety, and welfare.

Part-Time weekend hours are 7:00AM - 3:00PM and 3:00PM - 11:00PM Saturday and Sunday.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and a genuine desire to work with individuals with developmental disabilities. 

One week of paid orientation is required prior to the start of your assignment. In addition, ongoing paid training outside of normal work hours is required.

Positions are located in Union County. 

Responsibilities

  • Assists individuals' needs and develops an effective counseling/support relationship
  • Provides hands on assistance with activities of daily living, including bathing and hygiene, and helps with fire drills and/or other health and safety issues as needed
  • Provides assistance for daily living skills, supportive counseling, and direct care assistance
  • Helps with food shopping, menu planning, and meal preparation
  • Communicates ongoing care results and updates to relevant parties
  • Collaborates with families and superiors for best care opportunities
  • Helps to arrange and attend social activities
  • Transports members to medical appointments, recreation activities, etc.
  • Helps ensure a safe, clean, organized, environment
  • Ensures that required documentation is complete and is in compliance with regulations and standards
  • Helps resolve member and family concerns
  • Attends required trainings, staff meetings, and other meetings/events as requested
  • Performs other duties as required

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Valid driver's license
  • Car to use for work purposes
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
  • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities a plus
  • Willing and able to attend required trainings outside of normal work hours
