Tech - Network Engineer

JOB OVERVIEW:

Backcountry is seeking a skilled and experienced Network Engineer to join our outdoor retail ecommerce company. As a Network Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the network infrastructure that supports our online platform. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES:

Network Design and Planning: 

• • Design and implement scalable and secure network architectures to support our ecommerce operations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into network solutions.
  • Conduct regular assessments of the network infrastructure to identify areas for improvement and propose enhancements. 

Network Implementation and Configuration: 

• • Install, configure, and maintain network hardware and software components, including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.
  • Ensure network connectivity across multiple locations, both physical and virtual, and troubleshoot any connectivity issues that arise.
  • Implement and enforce network security measures to protect sensitive customer and company data. 

Network Monitoring and Optimization: 

• • Monitor network performance and proactively identify and resolve network-related problems and bottlenecks.
  • Conduct regular performance analysis and capacity planning to ensure optimal network performance and scalability.
  • Implement network monitoring tools and establish alerts and notifications for network incidents. 

Network Documentation and Reporting: 

• • Maintain accurate and up-to-date network documentation, including network diagrams, configurations, and standard operating procedures.
  • Prepare and present reports on network performance, availability, and security to management and relevant stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with other teams to ensure effective communication and coordination of network-related activities. 

Network Security and Compliance: 

• • Implement and enforce network security policies and measures to protect against unauthorized access and data breaches.
  • Stay updated on the latest network security threats and vulnerabilities and recommend and implement appropriate security controls.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations related to network security and data protection. 

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

• • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP) are a plus.
  • Proven experience as a Network Engineer, preferably in a retail or ecommerce environment.
  • Strong knowledge of network protocols, routing, switching, and firewall technologies.
  • Experience with network hardware, including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.  GCP cloud experience would be a plus.
  • Proficiency in network monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
  • Familiarity with network security principles, practices, and technologies.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. #LI-JH1
