Security Officer - AUR - PT

Position:      Security Guard  
Job Class:    Part-Time On-Call  
Location:      AmeriCorps NCCC Southwest Region  
Reports To:  Captain  

Summary: The Security Guard position is responsible for the protection, safeguarding, and security of assets, personnel, customers and all visitors of their assigned post.

Job Responsibilities:

• Perform security patrols on premises to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure security of doors, windows and gates.
• Investigate and write reports on accidents, incidents, suspicious activities, safety and fire hazards and other security related situations.
• Completion of Daily Activity Reports of each shift.
• Answer alarms and investigate disturbances.
• Prompt and timely complete system checks.
• Provide any needed assistance to customer, employees and visitors according to the site procedures.
• Performs other related duties as assigned by Site Captain.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required plus any Security/Law Enforcement experience preferred.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Hold and maintain Security Guard status.
• Ability to perform duties in a professional manner and appearance.
• Good working knowledge of security operations, safety practices in a business environment and enforcement procedures.
• Demonstrated strong English verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to understand and follow standard operating procedures.
• Ability write and investigate required reports.
• Ability to make independent and good judgment decisions utilizing ADC LTD NM and customer policy and procedures.
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.

Working Conditions:

• Frequent and prolonged walking, standing, sitting, and stooping, up to twelve (12) hours per day. Occasional running, sprinting, lifting heavy weights, moving heavy objects, climbing stairs
• Work is performed indoors and outdoors and require an individual to withstand extreme inclement weather such as heat, humidity, cold, or severe weather
• Unpredictable crisis situations require the ability to speak clearly and distinctly and remain calm in stressful situations
• Ability to remain on post up to four (4) consecutive hours without sitting, eating, or relieving bladder or bowels.
• Ability to remain alert with ability to mentally and physically react quickly to a variety of unexpected and dangerous situations.
• Ability to subdue violent or potentially violent or disturbed individuals, or intervene in a crisis
• Evening and Weekend Hours required
