The Senior Manager, Taxation ensures compliance with the tax obligations of the company in Canada and the United States. You will assist the Senior Tax Director in various tax projects.

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Senior Tax Director, the Tax Manager must:

  • Prepare consolidated provisions related to income tax in Canada and the United States quarterly and annually, including notes related to the consolidated financial statement, and respond to any requests from external auditors.
  • Handle Canadian and American tax returns, including information return forms (T106, T1134, etc.) and related tax election documents, as necessary.
  • Establish and optimize provisional payments in Canada and the United States.
  • Manage various income tax audits from tax authorities.
  • Collaborate with external consultants, particularly in the context of restructurings, business acquisitions, and company financing.
  • Participate in the implementation processes of new acquisitions, including determining deferred tax during business acquisitions, communication with lawyers, preparation of necessary tax election documents, acquisition structure, etc.
  • Ensure the maintenance and reconciliation of general ledger accounts with tax returns and notices of assessment.
  • Establish the internal group transfer pricing method, monitor compliance, and prepare the necessary data for the draft report.
  • Monitor various accounts associated with tax attributes.
  • Develop internal tax controls and accounting procedures and policies.
  • Identify process improvement areas and collaborate on the implementation of various tax process automation mechanisms and ongoing operational simplification initiatives.
  • Participate in a range of special projects (e.g., tax research, document preparation, international tax issues, and other specific topics).
  • Stay updated on new laws and legal standards related to accounting and taxation.

Requirements:

  • Recognized professional title in accounting.
  • Master's degree in taxation or completion of CPA Canada's Tax Fundamental Program.
  • At least 10 years of experience in tax compliance, including tax accounting.
  • Strong experience related to taxes for Canadian and American companies.
  • In-depth knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
  • Excellent analytical and synthesis skills.
  • Strong prioritization skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Initiative and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in French and English, both written and spoken (bilingual).
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite, especially Excel, and TaxPrep.
