We are currently searching for an Issue Specialist to join our team. The Issue Specialist completes quality checks on life applications to ensure accuracy of client and policy information inputted into the multiple computer systems. Issue Specialist role essential job functions: 
Level I:

  • Analyze applications recognizing completeness of application, replacement, and compliance with state regulations.  Also, review for compliance with AML, fraud detection and WoodmenLife procedures in OKB or manual
  • Accurately transfer and verify data from the application into the Organization’s computer systems, recognizing and updating existing records based on new information. This includes correcting the proof of birth, SS#, name and address on previous records held by the applicant
  • Executes form changes to modify the plan and amount of insurance on issued cases as requested by the Sales representative.  This also includes the cancellation of the old certificate and notification to the proper department
  • Identify application for form deficiencies and communicate with Sales Associate for clarification and request additional information when needed.  Review HIPAA forms to ensure we are in compliance before MIB is run
  • Analyze application and forms to correctly process split or reassigned commissions to the Sales representative’s commission account.  Communicates with Sales Services in regards to Sales contract issues to ensure proper commission is paid
  • Distributes funds and performs transactions in an accurate manner that affects applicants’ and or members’ bank accounts (PAC). Follows established rules and procedures in conducting analysis and allocation of funds received, determines appropriate distribution of remittances, and setting up future billings through PAC accounts, and determining refund amounts
  • Performs accounting transactions such as but not limited to applying premiums, ordering and canceling refund drafts, re-depositing checks, and backing off accounting transactions due to bad checks/express checks
  • Processes transactions for applications that are incomplete, postponed or rejected to include interest calculations on money being refunded and communicating with Sales Associates and applicants regarding non-issue decisions 

Level II:

  • Issues life, applications within established guidelines and time service standards set for the department
  • Provides field representatives with options on life applications where a counter offer has been made and there is a shortage of premium
  • Analyzes and redistributes, as needed, the funds received with an application, through the billing mode specified by the member
  • Verifies that adequate funds are available to issue each contract and recognizes when there is a premium surplus or shortage and makes appropriate decisions on how to resolve
  • Performs quality checks to verify that each certificate is issued as approved and that all changes or modifications are accurately reflected in the final certificate
  • Performs accounting transactions to accurately apply funds from an existing certificate, either as an exchange or refund on deposit and order refund drafts as needed while ensuring tax guidelines are reported correctly

 

We need someone who has:

  • High school diploma or equivalent work experience
  • Strong math skills and general accounting skills necessary for calculating interest, transferring monies and researching payments
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to details and the ability to make independent decisions
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work in order to meet established time standards and department service levels
  • Ability to research and investigate previous system transactions and take appropriate action
  • Ability to effectively communicate and understand information via telephone, voice mail, face-to-face and in writing
  • Strong PC skills, especially with Word and the ability to work within multiple windows simultaneously
  • Ability to adapt to constant change
  • Ability to work in a team environment and also independently
  • Ability to adhere to Core Operation’s Behavioral Standards including focusing on solutions, being open to feedback and dialogue, taking initiative, and be involved and accountable
  • The ability to provide seamless, trustworthy, attentive and resourceful (S.T.A.R.) customer service
  • Engages well with others and are passionate about providing an exemplary customer experience
