Construction Site Superintendent
Nikita Construction is seeking a Site Superintendent for its new projects with Sandman Hotel Groups in Ontario.
As a Construction Site Superintendent, you will be responsible for leading on-site activities to ensure timely and within-budget completion of projects with high-quality standards. You will be in charge of building a site team and working collaboratively with other divisions, including procurement, operations, construction, and design, as well as enforcing best practices, monitoring project expenditures and maintaining a safe work environment. Your duties and responsibilities will include the following:
- Manage and supervise all on-site construction activities for the concrete high-rise project.
- Hire, train, and assign employees, crew and subcontractors, providing coaching, counselling, and discipline if necessary to achieve high performance and quality.
- Monitor and control employees, crew and subcontractors' performance, communicate job expectations, evaluate job contributions and recommend compensation actions, adhering to policies and procedures.
- Conduct regular safety meetings and inspections, addressing any concerns promptly.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive project documentation, including daily reports, site photos, and change orders.
- Enforce best building practices, conducting daily inspections to maintain construction quality standards, resolving problems and implementing measures to improve efficiency.
- Collaborate with the project team to find effective solutions to unforeseen problems.
- Assist in the creation of construction schedules to meet project timelines, standards and budget parameters.
- Provide regular progress reports to the project manager and other key stakeholders.
- Work closely with the project manager to control costs and identify potential cost-saving measures.
- Monitor project expenditures, identify labour, equipment, and materials variances, and implement corrective actions to meet the construction budget.
- Prevent fines and interruptions by following standards and enforcing codes and regulations.
- Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment.
- Support the growth and development of company culture and professionally represent the company.
- Performs other duties as required
Requirements:
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in similar roles leading a diverse team of 15-50 people of all trade disciplines
- Proven experience as a Site Superintendent overseeing low-rise (6 stories) construction projects.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, schematics, and construction documentation.
- Knowledge and expertise in concrete foundations and layout, wood framing, and all trade activities.
- Familiarity with construction codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Understanding of all safety procedures, hazard recognition, and proactive risk mitigation to ensure health & safety standards.
- Competence in project scheduling, cost estimation and budget management.
- Knowledge of environmental sustainability practices in construction.
- Ability to track record of successful project delivery, client satisfaction, and adherence to timelines and budgets.
- Experience conducting and facilitating safety training programs.
- Problem-solving ability and proficiency in creating cost-effective solutions.
- Ability to work in various locations in Ontario, with Sudbury being the first location
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to stand and/or be on their feet 10-12 hours/day.
- Must be able to lift 50lbs and use proper lifting techniques for heavy items weighing more than 25 kilograms
- Must be able to climb scaffoldings.
