Summary

This position will be responsible for the preventative maintenance and repair of machines across the manufacturing floor critical to keeping production running, as well as the safety and well-being of all the company’s employees. This will include functional checks and upgrades to equipment, plant infrastructure/utilities, machine safety, and overall equipment efficiency. This position entails working closely with and assisting salaried personnel and contractors, supervising the skilled trades employees, and must maintain a good working relationship with all.

 

Job Functions

  • Directly lead and coordinate the activities of the multi-craft maintenance technicians and toolroom employees, ensuring that they remain fully tasked throughout the day and respond to both reactive maintenance calls and planned maintenance initiatives efficiently and effectively.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizers policies, labor agreement, and applicable laws.
  • Creation, revision, and application of engineering documentation including maintenance work orders, lock-out tag-out procedures, preventative and predictive maintenance initiatives, service and troubleshooting manuals, machine specifications, plant layouts, blueprints, schematics/control diagrams, etc.
  • Hands on participation and leadership in maintenance related functions including PM projects, reactive repairs, and continual improvement.
  • Investigation and implementation of process improvement opportunities related to maintenance and manufacturing procedures.
  • Utilizing test equipment, such as ammeters, ohmmeters, voltmeters, high potential testers, phase testers, mega-ohmmeters, oscilloscopes, accelerometers, etc. for troubleshooting and PM purposes.
  • Scheduling and executing preventative and reactive repairs to machines and facilities.
  • Performing research to resolve issues.

 

Specifications Required·

  • Electrical knowledge (DC and AC) and industrial power distribution systems (switchgear, busway, etc.)
  • Understanding and experience with hydraulic and mechanical power presses.
  • Initiative and creativity; must be able to produce high quality work on tight schedules and be willing to work odd hours when necessary.
  • Understanding and experience with networking in a factory environment.

Education/Experience          

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or controls engineering preferred.
  • Two or more years’ supervisory experience of skilled tradespeople.
  • Four or more years’ experience in troubleshooting, repair, and service of manufacturing and facility equipment.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience in Autocad/Solidworks.
  • Experience with industrial electronics in CNC machine control, PLC/Relay logic controls, AC/DC drives, servo motors, etc.
  • Understanding and experience with motors, transformers, and generators.
  • Experience regarding hydraulic and pneumatic repair/service.
  • General machine tool experience.

  • Ability to work in extreme heat situations (Near ovens, furnaces, boilers, ceiling) for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work in tight spaces (in, above, and under machines, equipment, etc.)
  • Ability to wear appropriate arc flash equipment as well as general PPE (gloves, breathing masks, aprons, safety glasses, steel toed footwear, cold weather gear, etc. provided by company)
  • Perform job duties onsite.
