Summary

Responsible for developing routine instructions, perform product/process problem solving to eliminate root causes and prevent recurrences on nonconformance, and train operators in proper use of measuring and test equipment procedures

 

Job Functions:

  • Performs daily product inspection and tests at receiving
  • In-process and final assembly operations using various measuring tools and equipment
  • Reviews nonconforming materials and maintains records of these activities
  • Initiate, monitor and participate in corrective action projects
  • Perform warranty analysis investigations
  • Co-prepares summary reports for customers and company records
  • Perform internal quality systems audits as needed
  • Responsible to perform and interpret process capability studies, gage repeatability / reproducibility studies, supplier audits and source inspections according to established procedures
  • Responsible to evaluate processes in area of responsibility and define Critical to Quality (CTQ) features as related to the production process and historical performance
  • Implement shop floor level processes to collect and evaluate CTQ, FPY, RTY data
  • Responsible to implement manufacturing quality metrics for shop floor processes
  • Technicians primarily support departments 20, 22, 25, 29 and 31 but could have coverage responsibilities in other departments
  • Applicants with experience in departments named above are preferred however, this is not a requirement for the position
  • This position will be responsible for developing product acceptance criteria in assigned areas.

 

Specifications Required:

  • Knowledge of one or more manufacturing processes: assembly, HVAC, stamping, welding, brazing and metal fabrication and machining
  • Ability to demonstrate professional communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to identify complex problems and review related info. to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
  • Ability to work with deadlines and in stressful situations
  • Knowledge of MS Office software (Word, Excel, and Access/ Sequel Server), QT9
  • Applicant should be comfortable working independently and managing, prioritizing and adjusting priorities to support the business.

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Associates degree in Mechanical or Industrial Technology/ Engineering preferred
  • Prior manufacturing quality experience required
  • ASQ certification is preferred
