Summary:

Supports the Product Engineering department by assisting Product Engineers in the creation of 2D drawings and 3D models; also performing Engineering changes of drawings and 3D models.

 

Job Functions:

  • Creates new drawings and 3D CAD models and makes drawing changes for processing engineering change orders.
  • Ensures quality of drawings and CAD models; analyzing the effect of proposed changes for proper fit and/or interference problems.
  • Contributes to team efforts by accomplishing related results in a cooperative and supportive manner.
  • Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization.
  • Interface with customers as necessary to clarify design objectives on projects and communicate updates to Sales Department.
  • Adhere to DPG production release procedures.
  • Continue education to stay current on the latest technologies. Maintains technical knowledge by conferring with technical specialists and suppliers; attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies
  • Performing other duties as assigned or directed.
  • Reading and understanding the company safety policies.

Specifications Required:

  • Ability to be personally connected to others on the job, maintain a professional demeanor with a positive attitude
  • Ability to operate at an advanced level with computer software
  • Ability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
  • Knowledge of document control system like Teamcenter is desired
  • Ability to demonstrate professional communication skills both written and verbal
  • Ability to multitask between projects and prioritize when necessary
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing with all levels in the organization
  • Ability to work efficiently and independently and manage time well
  • Ability to be careful about detail and thorough in completing work tasks
  • Willingness to stay late and work overtime when necessary.

Education & Experience:

  • Associates degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering / Mechanical Engineering Technology / CAD and 3+ years of experience in design and development of mechanical systems
  • 3+ year experience using 3D CAD software (Solid Edge preferred)
  • Experience with MS Office applications (i.e. MS Word & Excel)
  • Strong intrapersonal skills - ability thrive in a team oriented, creative, and collaborative environment.
  • Sound knowledge of engineering design principles.
  • Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerances
