Job Title: Business Development Manager

As a Business Development Manager you will be responsible for selling our full line of products to named accounts and target markets. S/he drives sales revenue by building a relationship with key players in their accounts and target markets; penetrating the accounts and markets at all levels and all subsidiaries; becoming a trusted advisor on solutions to meet the needs of their accounts; and maintaining an ongoing account and segment strategy for selling GI’s products and solutions. S/he stays in total engagement with accounts and segments during the sales cycle while bringing in additional necessary resources from the Sales, Product, and Professional Services team. The position requires time in our corporate headquarters working closely with GI’s leadership team as well as time in face-to-face client and prospect calls.

 

Business Development Manager Responsibilities:

  • Develops corporate contacts and cultivates relationships at all levels that enhances GI’s position, which leads to incremental business within the designated account
  • Compiles customer account information on organizational structure (parent and subsidiaries), buying process, compensation process, existing products/tools to produce a prospective business report identifying potential business activities necessary to close client accounts
  • Maintains regular contact with account base, and increases revenue from positioning and demonstrating new and existing products, preparing appropriate ROI’s, and closing the sale
  • Operates cooperatively with the preparation of yearly and multiple year account plans for each account based on short, mid and long-range plans
  • Generates, develops, manages, and communicates expectations within assigned accounts as well as increases scope of penetration within each account
  • Qualifies new opportunities and prospects, dimensions the size of opportunities and articulates probabilities and sales cycles of closure
  • Collaborates with corporate Marketing on presentations and materials.
  • Maintains complete and accurate documentation of all activities
  • Maintains broad knowledge of company products and their capabilities versus the strengths/weaknesses of competitive products
  • Maintains close working relationship with GI product personnel to know product futures and timing, as well as feedback concerns and requests from prospects
  • Negotiates pricing and implementation and prepares proposals
  • Travel up to 40%
  • Develops customer relationships, implementing a marketing plan, protecting profitability and fostering growth
  • Directs focused customer growth based on the requirements of GI’s President and senior staff.
  • Establish sufficient prospective opportunities to meet strategic business plans
  • Detailed knowledge of all prospective and new customer relationships so GI’s customer interactions can be facilitated to maintain business growth and profitability.
  • Detailed knowledge of market region including prospective opportunities in all target markets.
  • Develops annual sales plan for input into the annual business plan.
  • Maintains an in-depth knowledge of the mailing and bagging industry to support GI’s growth and diversification and to ensure that we are benchmarked in meeting customers' expectations.
  • Works directly with the other sales team members to maximize revenue and strategic value to Pregis and GI.
  • Prepares penetration plans for his/her territory and/or assigned markets.
  • Ensures that all new business opportunities meet the financial requirements established by GI’s President.

 

Business Development Manager  Candidate Experience and Requirements:

  • 10 + years selling to Fortune 500 Accounts
  • 5+ years selling as a Strategic Account Manager
  • Sales responsibility for $15.5 million in revenue
  • Preferred sales experience in selling an enterprise-wide product
  • Proven track record of meeting quarterly and annual sales and profitability objectives for the previous 4 years
  • Proven track record of selling to executive and field C- level customers
  • Demonstrable success in driving highest levels of Customer Experience

 

Business Development Manager Competencies:

  • Build and develop key executive relationships across the enterprise
  • Develop and execute monthly, quarterly and annual account plans through superior account management skills
  • Develop and execute a strategy to drive repeatable business and long-term revenue opportunities
  • Develop and execute the strategy to develop multiple year sales plans
  • Penetrate accounts to stay current on all activity and maximize sales volume by increasing size and length of the sales deal
  • Sells solutions strategically to all levels within the organization
  • Negotiates pricing and implementation for complex sales including multiple products and services to accounts with multiple subsidiaries in multiple locations
  • Forecast sales volume
  • Ensure the highest level of Customer Experience on each and every engagement
  • Deliver and present persuasive presentations to audiences of all sizes and levels
  • Communicate effectively at meetings, providing presentations, and in written documents
